WHAT WE DO DIFFERENTLY, AND WHY
Most of what separates a good roof from a bad one is invisible by the time the job is finished. Anyone can lay shingles in a straight line. The differences are underneath, and they only show up years later.
WE TEAR OFF RATHER THAN LAYER OVER
Going over an existing roof is faster and cheaper and we generally advise against it. It hides whatever is wrong with the decking, adds weight, and traps heat that shortens the life of the new shingles. Tearing off means we actually see the deck and can replace anything soft before it disappears for another twenty years.
WE REPLACE FLASHING RATHER THAN REUSE IT
Flashing at chimneys, walls, valleys and skylights is where the majority of persistent leaks begin. Reusing old flashing on a new roof saves an hour and is one of the most common reasons a new roof leaks.
WE TREAT VENTILATION AS PART OF THE JOB
Intake and exhaust ventilation determines how hot the underside of your shingles gets every summer, and it is the single biggest factor in ice damming every winter. A roof that cannot breathe cooks itself from below.
WE CLEAN UP PROPERLY
Tarps over the landscaping, debris contained as we go, and magnets over the drive, walkways and lawn before we leave. It is the thing customers mention most often in their reviews, which tells you how rare it apparently is.
